... Fisher. He afterwards commanded the West Gulf Squadron, and assisted General Canby in the reduction of Mobile. On May 10, 1865, Thatcher received the surrender of the Confederate naval forces at Mobile and on the Alabama River. In July, 1866, he was made rear-admiral, and in May, 1868, retired. He died in Boston, Mass., April 5, 1880.
